The Tuesday Chattery

Morning All. Well? How did the 'most depressing day of the year' go for you?

I managed a lunch out and watched a movie with my parents, About Time, have you seen it? What a beautifully written movie with a great sentiment behind it. There was bawlage going on I can tell you and if you haven't watched it yet you're in for a real treat.

I know it's Awards season but the movies seem to be getting bigger and better this year. We caught Dallas Buyers Club at the weekend and both McConaughey and Leto truly blew me away.

Look, I know comments have been slow with The Chattery of late but I've come up with a pretty little plan to get our little community to life - all will be revealed very, very shortly but with the views that these posts are getting, I know hesitancy to be first to post must be a big factor.

Please don't be nervous or afraid - if you've a dilemma going on, a weird dream you've had or even just need a rant and can't wait for the Jimmies post of a Thursday, you're welcome here as are your comments.

I'll start us off after rambling about movies, what's the best you've seen in the past while?

  1. Boo yah, I'm first! Helps having to get up at half five every day I guess. The last movie I saw was about 2 years ago, so I cannae help yizzer there, but maybe you lads can help me? I'm having bigger bags than usual under the eyes and none of my go to eye creams can manage them. I use Laid Bare and Lift Activ (both serum and cream), but they're just not doing the heavy lifting. So my question is what is the best spackle for the serious cracks and bulges? Marco!

  2. I got paid today! Woot! Hence thinking about products. I get my one treat a month this week. No one say Cils d'Enfer - that was necessary!!

double up on pillows at night to stop blood from building up under your eyes.
In the morning, apply a cold compress for about five minutes to constrict the blood vessels,
Use an eye cream with caffeine, which helps constrict vessels
Other smart alternatives: Arnica-based creams (found at health-food stores), which are considered to have anti-inflammatory properties, may reduce the appearance of darkness.
And eye creams with green tea or grapeseed oil help strengthen capillary walls
You can tweak your diet, too. Flavonol-rich dark chocolate (an ounce a day) and foods full of omega-3 fatty acids (salmon, walnuts) may improve blood flow to the skin.

  4. Hiya Felicity, I'm yet to find an eye cream I really love but as I also suffer from the dreaded eye bags, I can recommend Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer for a quick fix! ;)

  5. Having recently acquired an xbox, I have not seen any movies at all. Properly addicted.

But, Just seen a trailer for Child of God and that looks deadly.

If I was only going to get one treat, it would have to be the MAC 3D extreme black mascara. Love it.

  7. Thanks for all the info guys, I'm having a dilemma - caudalie eye cream or Nars concealer? Nars is cheaper but I'd have to guess the colour. Decisions, decisions!

  8. Felicity I'd opt for the NARS concealer too if you have a good idea of your shade OR NARS lip pencil in Cruella! :)

  9. Today was a pain the bum!! Spent the day online searching for jobs, and possible courses to do as I feel I need to get my brain working again as its been a few years since I did my degree.. In the same part time job for the last 4 years and hoping 2014 will be the year I finally get out there and find something else, but only 3 weeks into January and I'm getting impatient! I know I should consider myself lucky seen as there's so many people out there with no work... Maybe tomorrow I'll wake up and not be such a gigantic pain in the bum.... (OOh this is my first time commenting on something like this.. Yay me!!)

  10. Hey Alisha,

    Welcome!

I think one of the biggest misconceptions about having work these days is that you're so grateful to have it that you'll never want more. It's a very scewed view of the world.

We all have days that are major pains in the bum though, totally normal.

Are you considering going back to study summat else?

  11. I am considering going back to do something else but ammmm can't decide what! There's so many things I'm interested in but yet don't think I'd be able to make a living from it.. Which is probably half the problem.. I feel like I have to do something to be able to make money rather than be happy which I know is definitely the wrong attitude to have! So maybe I need to change my attitude to work and such before I can change anything else.. hmmmm....
