Monday's Moments: 07/10/13

It's October, how in the name of Jebus did that happen? I reckon the unseasonably sweltering weather has us all confused - I've spent the majority of the week with the windows swung wide, dripping in sweat and rocking a Monica in Barbados afro. Good times.

Still an' all there's been 5 stand out Moments that are chasing away my Monday Blues and here they be:

1. Scarily Hilarious

Photo from Sis' Instafeed
Last week the Sis and I had one of the funniest experiences we've had in years. She was sent a voucher to try out the Gravedigger's Ghost Bus Tour and, honestly, I haven't laughed and/or screamed as much in donkeys.

The specially designed, blacked out bus picked us up in College Green and brought us on a terrifying/hilarious tour of Dublin's creepiest places, while scaring the bejeebus out of us, consistently. I can't recommend this trip enough, especially coming up to Halloween. The tour lads are salt of the earth, really know their stuff and throw in a scoop in the Gravediggers' pub in Glasnevin for good measure. I'm already planning on doing it again with the Gorgebags. You really should too.

2. A Literal LOL

If you've been following my instagram or twitter you'll know that the eldest Gorgebag is the Crap Joke Connoisseur and regularly private messages me his groan worthy gems.

He was on a roll on Wednesday when I replied 'Stop sending me gick and DO THAT REVIEW!'. Within minutes he'd sent me the above picture and I laughed so loudly that I frightened the cat.  He was put on this earth to test me. I know that now.

                              3. Oneupmanship Kitteh

While I was out with the Sis last week, not gallivanting because I'm still bandy backed but out nonetheless, i was just talking about the crazy cat when this came through on Facebook.
Seems Boo didn't like me leaving her alone so went out for a jaunt herself. Adam had brought her out with his gf and couldn't help but snap this knowing look that seems to say 'Anything you can do....'.

4. Let's Give the Boy a Haaaaannndd

I had a pretty bad set back with my back this week, having thought that I was sorted. Grounded once more and wrapped tightly in heat pads with a belly full of meds, I wasn't in any fit state for anything but my duvet.

I was awoken Saturday morning though by himself arriving in having worked late the night before. He'd brought with him the makings of a fry, cooked it up for the lads and I, rinsed up the dishes and headed off to work again immediately.

Now I know you might think I've a legion of minions at my beck and call or that I'm just including this to gloat but the truth is, I realised on Saturday that I've never been treated so well in all my life, ever, and for that I'm very, very grateful (yep, I told him so). He's alright, like.

5. Half a Century, Yo!

You'll have to excuse the blurry pic but that tends to happen when it's 42 years old! That's right, the elder cherries celebrated their 42nd anniversary last week, which I reckon is pretty phenomenal.

Know what's even more phenomenal? This past weekend they celebrated 50 years together - FIFTY YEARS! It's enough to bring a tear to a glass eye. They've stuck together for better or worse, through sickness and health, raised four kick ass kids and now have 11 1/2 grand kids.
Phe-nom-enal.

Tell me, what's chasing away your Monday Blues this week? Any happy haps to share?

  1. Got the kids passpot applications in the post and have the moohlah to book our tickets to see my folks in SA. Short of being refused my GNIB card... Nothing can ruin my week!

  4. Bravo man!! This kind of tour makes an adventurous experience. It makes an exemplary one to have a perfect outing. The kind of tour you opt makes it more important to deal with. I'm amazed to see your experience in a perfect manner. I think the bus hire services make it more rejoice and emphatic in all aspects.
