Revlon Lip Butters - My Picks

The world and his Uncle have heard all about these new lip butters on the market, right? Manys the Beauty Blogger that clutched her bosom in anticipation of them crossing the pond and I was right there with them.

Although all shades didn't make the trip, the gorgeous Adrienne from The Sunday Girl has helpfully swatched every one that did. By the by, if you don't follow Adrienne already, hop to it - her photos are some of the quirkiest, well thought out pics that I've yet to see online and are always a joy to behold. Check out her individual posts on the lip butters to see what I mean.

Anywho, finding myself in Boots (happy accident) I spotted that they have a 3 for 2 on at the minute on these babies. They're €11.42 each, so €22.84 for 3 is not to be sniffed at. Wanna see my picks?

These are honestly the only shades I was really drawn to, despite fearing for my poor purse following Adrienne's swatch fest. They're a mix between a lipstick and a balm and, while I like them, I have to admit I'm a little dissapointed. I thought they'd be softer, more moisturising but no such luck. The colour pay off is great for what is essentially a lip balm but they're just not doing it for me. While they are buttery and comfortable on your kisser, the colour seems to clump slightly, which gives an uneven finish and bleeds easily from the lips.

Lollipop is a bright Summer pink, Peach Parfait (my favourite) is a light peach with gold shimmer throughout & Candy Apple should really be called Candy Orange, it's a bright corally orange with red undertones.

Now all is not lost, they are fairly decent as daytime shades to pop in your purse. I did only buy 3 and won't be purchasing any more from this line but if the popularity of Revlon Lip Butters is anything to go by we can expect to see the formula reworked and improved several times over by other brands looking to cash in on its success. (Avon's Shine Attract or L'Oreal Caresse Sheer, anyone?)

What do we think? Have you picked up one or three yet?

  1. I don't want them. Nope. Not me...
Oh who am I kidding... if they don't arrive within the next month I'll order them online. Peach Parfait, Candy apple and creme brulee are my butters of choice. But since you've mentioned the negatives (kudos to you, other reviews only rave) I think I'll start with one and we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the honest review Sue! Happy weekend and happy easter.

    1. Happy Easter to you too :) Some gals have suggested that the ones with shimmer are more drying than the rest. If you can have a play with them in store do. They are pretty, just didn't live up to the hype for me x

  4. I think what is putting me off actually parting with my mulah for these is the pathetic amount of product you get.

    1. Yep, they are weenchy for the price, you're right. I've no doubt Catrice and/or Essence will be jumping on this train very soon.

  6. I've heard in other reviews that you only get a teenyweeny amount of product in the tubes....?
Still dying for a go though! :)

    1. They're 2.5g, which is small in comparison, I think the price is hugely off putting though for a lot of people. Considering they're only $7 in the States and £7.99 in the UK compared to €11.42 here. It's infuriating.

  7. Great review! I had planned on trying these too but the Boots in Dundrum only had about 2 colours left, which were both manky..hence no lip butters for me. Have to say though, I swatched one on the back of my hand, as above and didn't find the consistency that amazing either! I'll just have to make do with all the other lip products I've bought recently...ahem.

    1. Thanks! I hate when they let the stand get in a state, it really puts me off buying too. The first stand I saw was (as my Mother would say) 'a thundering disgrace'. It just happened that the Boots next door had them too. I'm the same though, have waaaay too many alternatives ;)

    2. Oh you can't possibly be as bad as me..just bought a mac lipstick and EL lip gloss (they're for my wedding, so...thats kind of ok??), a TOM FORD lipstick (crazy expense requires capitals) and one of those new fandangled YSL gloss/stain yokes. It is I who is the thundering disgrace, rather than the boots counter. Although, that was pretty awful too. :-)

  8. I don't know how I missed this post the first time around but you have the exact same three colours I have! And I get what you mean about the texture, but I still really like these - or Candy Apple, anyway, which has hardly been off my lips in the past little while xo

  9. Starting June 7, 2012, beneficiaries can attend an in-person meeting in
person, within the telephone or by video conference
    payday loans online
however, many of such people which can be searching for
loans would not have the best credit inside the world.
